Partnership brings UHF passive RFID technology to healthcare
Online PR News – 25-October-2016 – Hong Kong-based Xerafy and Seattle-based VUEMED have announced a new partnership to transform the healthcare supply chain with their groundbreaking RFID-based hardware and software solutions for tracking and managing healthcare devices and supplies from the loading dock to the procedure room.
Xerafy is a global leader in the development of Gen2 passive UHF RFID metal tags. Xerafy has recognized for some time that its customers are looking beyond using RFID for just tracking surgical instruments and trays; they are also seeking out RFID technology for a rapidly expanding variety of hospital operations. Their work is part of a larger move toward smart equipment and supply management that combines sensors, RFID, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other technologies. Xerafy offers improvements for end user workflow, customized data capture technologies, and RF analysis and optimization techniques.
VUEMED has developed cutting-edge clinical data capture solutions that use barcode scanning and UHF Gen2 Passive (RAIN) RFID technologies, such as VueTrack-RF, that work hand-in-hand with Xerafys tagging technology. VUEMED also offers Cloud-based data reporting and analytics and a Cloud-based UDI compliant and clinically-driven master products database for healthcare.
VUEMED and Xerafy are excited to be bringing together their complementary RFID technologies to provide a holistic RFID environment in a way that addresses the complex and specific needs of the healthcare space.
We are thrilled to be partnering with Xerafy in Asia where, together, we can bring innovative and never-before-seen turnkey solutions to a competitive market that is eager to adopt standards and solutions that deliver efficient and exceptionally clean and accurate clinical data, says Arnold Chazal, CEO and co-founder of VUEMED.
One critical piece of this collaboration is that Xerafy and VUEMED will offer a single platform that fulfills the obligations of the FDAs Unique Device Identifier (UDI) regulation for medical devices. Over the past two years, the FDA has mandated that all implantable devices must carry unique codes with a device identifier, a reference number/product code that attaches to a description of the manufacturer, and a production identifier, which has a unique lot number, serial number and expiration date. This FDA rule applies specifically to the manufacturers of such devices but the benefits for hospitals are significant, such as saving them millions of dollars through better inventory management as well as avoiding patient harm that arises from not knowing which medical devices have been recalled or have expired on the shelf.
Safe and efficient healthcare depends on maintaining accuracy at all points in the supply chain, from pharmaceutical and medical device to patient care, says Dennis Khoo, CEO and founder of Xerafy. By combining Xerafy with VUEMEDs expertise and software, we are able to build an RFID solution to bring traceability and big data analytics into healthcare processes by enabling customers to automatically track, monitor and safeguard instruments, equipment, supplies, and staff.
Xerafy is a global provider of passive RFID metal tags. They are the first tag manufacturer to develop a UHF RFID tag that can be embedded into metal. Their products are some of the worlds smallest EPC UHF RFID-on-metal tags and can withstand extreme conditions, harsh environments and high temperatures while still maintaining high performance. With their tags, manufacturers and end-users can create smart assets, enabling more efficient business processes and new product capabilities. Xerafy is headquartered in Hong Kong and maintains U.S. sales and support offices in Dallas, and additional offices in the U.K. and China. For more information, visit www.xerafy.com.
VUEMED is a global healthcare information business dedicated to transforming the healthcare supply chain using the most innovative RFID and barcode scanning technologies available today.
